Scratching and clucking, the chickens at Weathervane Farm are our partners in production. Never caged, antibiotic and hormone free, our layers have access to pasture, sun and bugs (the good things in life). They lay their eggs in nesting boxes lined with straw and roost on perches in a protected house at night. The eggs are hand collected, hand washed and then passed from our hands to yours.
Besides providing delicious eggs, our hens give fertility back to the garden in the form of their composted manure. As the hens go out to pasture along the perimeter of the garden they also help us manage pests by consuming insects along the way. They are an important part of the cycle of life here at the farm. Our eggs are available throughout the summer at the farmers market and year round through local natural food stores.
