First Sprinkling of the Year

We set up the irrigation on the the upper garden today.  It went surprisingly smoothly.   The most serious concern was a pipe that broke that was left buried in the ground under the driveway.  We were hoping that we wouldn’t have to dig it up last fall and rebury it this year.  I look forward to the day we can put in permanent underground lines.  The lack of precipitation this winter and spring is pushing us to start the irrigation earlier than ever before.  It is still getting cold at night so for a couple weeks yet I will have to drain the system each day we run it.  We did wake up to a thunderclap last night, but the only evidence of rain this morning are some drops of water on the hood of the cars and a coating of ice on the bridge.
