The chickens are out to pasture

We moved the meat chickens out to the mobile houses today. The grass is almost all wire grass.  Four years without irrigation has really taken a toll on the health of this land.  The new wheel system is working great.  I think we will add two more wheels to each house and abandon the dolly.

Frosty Morning

The forcasted low last night was 36, the house thermometer said 41 at 6:30, but the garden looks to have dipped a bit lower.  I think the beans and squash sustained minimal damage and everything else should be ok.

Chickens love their sprouts

  Caitlin has been sprouting seeds for the hens. They love it. The first round was fenugreek and now the whole house smells pleasently of maple syrup.
